Diavolezza:

the magnificent mountain landscape

On Diavolezza, you will be closer to the mountain landscape than anywhere else. Here, you can see the four-thousand-metre Piz Bernina and the impressive Piz Palü rise up before you and the Pers Glacier and Morteratsch Glacier beneath your feet.

Diavolezza is a place where day trippers, hikers, snow sports lovers and mountain enthusiasts come together. What they all have in common is a fascination with the Bernina range and the glacial landscape. Piz Palü and Piz Bernina are omnipresent here: you see them on the glacier run down to Morteratsch, on the via ferratas on Piz Trovat, and on the sun terrace of the Berghaus. Speaking of the Berghaus, it’s not only a great place to eat, but also a great place to stay.
The Diavolezza valley station is home to an interactive exhibition that tells the story of the melting of the glaciers and the impact of climate change on this high mountain landscape.

Diavolezza in winter

Just one of the things that makes Diavolezza unique is the fact that you can do snow sports here from the middle of October until the start of May. The eight-kilometre glacier run here takes you down to Morteratsch under the watchful gaze of Piz Palü and Piz Bernina.

Once you are back on Diavolezza, you can revive yourself in the outdoor jacuzzi – complete with fresh air and an unobstructed view of the Bernina range. Back inside the Berghaus, a tasty dinner and a warm bed will be waiting for you. But perhaps you’d like to see the stars before turning in for the night? At almost 3,000 metres above sea level, far from civilisation, the stars shine so bright that they feel close enough to reach out and touch! You can also bask in the light of the full moon and the stars at Glüna Plaina, our full moon night skiing event.

Got fitness goals? The Diavolezza Challenge is a timed, signposted ski touring route – the ideal training ground for both beginners and experienced ski tourers.

Diavolezza im Sommer

The Diavolezza gondola lift will transport you to a fairy-tale world of mountains and glaciers. With the four-thousand-metre Piz Bernina, the majestic Piz Palü and the Pers and Morteratsch glaciers, the breathtaking view from Diavolezza is one of a kind. You can experience this high Alpine mountain landscape up close on the Glacier Experience Trail or on a glacier trek with the Bergsteigerschule Pontresina (mountaineering school).

However, if that sounds like a lot of work, the low-effort way to enjoy the mountain landscape is from the terrace of the Berghaus – perhaps with a plate of Pizzoccheri pasta and a glass of good wine. The panoramic views here can even be seen from the jacuzzi in front of the Berghaus. And if you still haven’t had your fill of the mountains, you can stay the night at the Berghaus!

Families will love the Magical Fire package: have a barbecue on Sass Queder – the highest BBQ area in Europe. After all, lighting a fire at 3,066 metres will be an adventure for young and old alike. There is a totally different kind of adventure to be had on the two via ferratas on Piz Trovat: here, it’s all about thrills, physical challenges and, of course, the fantastic mountain view that awaits you!
