Virtual Reality Glacier Experience
The Virtual Reality Glacier Experience visitor centre at the Diavolezza valley station teaches visitors about the connections between climate change, glacier development and water balance.
Through virtual reality, experience how climate change is affecting the Morteratsch Glacier and its water balance. There are four tours to choose from, each with a different topic. The first tour is designed to open your eyes to new perspectives and help you understand the water resources in and around the glacier. The second tour allows visitors to experience changes in the water balance here through the past, present and future. The third tour follows in the footsteps of the ptarmigan (a local bird) and focuses on how the local fauna has changed over the years. Finally, the visitor centre also informs visitors about the MortAlive project, which aims to slow the retreat of the glacier by artificially adding snow. The VR Glacier Experience was created as part of the #gkb2020 project, which marked the 150th anniversary of Graubündner Kantonalbank.
Please note: the visitor centre is free of charge.
