Stay at 2,978 metres above sea level
Once the last cable car has gone back down into the valley, silence falls over the Berghaus, Diavolezza’s mountain inn. Here, you can enjoy fabulous views of the Bernina range as well as the feeling of getting away from it all in this silent place, where the stars feel close enough to reach out and touch.
The Berghaus Diavolezza is perched at almost 3,000 metres above sea level, in the middle of the epic landscape of the Alps. It is a place where day trippers, skiers, hikers and mountain enthusiasts come together. What they all have in common is a fascination with the fairy-tale mountain scenery. In the evening, when the last rays of sunlight illuminate Piz Palü and Piz Bernina, silence falls over the Berghaus. Slowly, the lights start to come on, and people who are staying the night head down for the four-course dinner.
The Berghaus has 10 comfortable double rooms with en-suite shower and toilet. Alternatively, you can go for the authentic mountain hut experience in a group dorm: there are dorms for two, four, six and 16 people, all with showers and toilets on the same floor. This option is perfect for alpinists who want to get out on the mountain early.
Relax with some heat
Are your muscles aching from a challenging climb up Piz Palü or a hard day’s skiing? Then head for the jacuzzi on the panorama terrace. The bubbling 41°C water will wash those aches away.
