A short hike with spectacular panoramic views
This short hike can be deceptive: depending on the snow conditions, wading through the snow here at 3,000 metres can really take a toll on the legs. However, you will be well rewarded for your exertions. Once you reach the top, an unforgettable panoramic view opens up before you. You can see not only the Bernina range, but also further into Val Poschiavo and Valtellina.
Pink signposting marks the way from the Berghaus Diavolezza to Sass Queder. First, the path follows the ski slope to the mountain station of the glacier chairlift. If the climb doesn’t leave you breathless, the view certainly will. You can see all the way to the Austrian Alps, and your gaze will linger on majestic peaks such as Piz Kesch and Piz Linard. Among the Italian peaks, the Ortler is the one that stands out, and on the Swiss side, Palü and Bernina steal the spotlight.
Please note: Only shovels are used to clear the path. Good mountain boots are a necessity for this trail.
