Edelweiss Air provides inspiration to make your day of hiking perfect
Looking for that holiday feeling without leaving the country? Edelweiss Air has found a way to conjure up that feeling. Since 2016, Switzerland’s leading holiday airline has been naming its planes after regions where the Edelweiss flower grows. So now, 15 planes are named after Swiss regions where the Edelweiss actually grows. The names include “Corvatsch”, “Melchsee-Frutt”, “Belalp” and “Kaiseregg”. As a symbol of the partnership, each of these regions features an Edelweiss bench, which looks like a row of aeroplane seats, at their most spectacular observation points.
The Rhaetian Railway
The Rhaetian Railway is known for its unique mountain routes, for going through a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for the Glacier Express and for the Bernina Express. What began in 1889 with the opening of the line from Landquart to Klosters is now a 384-kilometre network of routes through the Swiss Alps.
Bernina Diavolezza Express
Simply riding on the Bernina Express, which goes through a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an incredible experience in and of itself. The little red train climbs through mountain forests and up to the Bernina pass where it passes the icy green Lago Bianco. It then descends on a winding route into Val Poschiavo and finally into Tirano in Italy. However, if you want to see mighty Piz Palü and towering Piz Bernina with a height of over four thousand metres up close, if you want to experience this world of ice and glaciers first-hand, take the Diavolezza cable car. The panoramic views from the terrace of the Berghaus is simply spectacular. Why not book your package deal with the Rhaetian Railway now?
